QUESTIONS ASKED THE MOST
FAQ
You’ve got questions, I’ve got answers! Here are the things couples, grads, and families ask me most often. If you’re wondering about something else, just reach out—I’m always happy to help.

This is my first photoshoot, what should I know?
First of all, you don’t need to be a pro in front of the camera—that’s my job! I’ll guide you through natural poses and prompts so everything feels comfortable and fun. Before your session, we can collab on tips for what to wear and how to prep (like bringing a backup outfit or touch-up items). Plan to arrive a few minutes early so we can start relaxed and unhurried. Most importantly, come ready to laugh, move around, and just be yourself—those genuine moments always make the best photos.

Are the travel expenses included in your packages?
Most of my packages cover travel within a certain distance of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. If your session or wedding is farther away, there may be a small additional travel fee to cover mileage, lodging, or flights. I’ll always give you a detailed estimate up front so there are no surprises—just let me know where your event will be and I can share the exact details.

Can you recommend any good locations?

Absolutely! I’m always out scouting for fresh spots, and I also keep a tried-and-true list of favorite locations. If you share the vibe you’re dreaming of—whether it’s urban and modern, romantic and woodsy, or something totally different—I can suggest places that fit perfectly.

What if the weather is bad on the day of an outdoor shoot?
Don’t worry—we’ll keep an eye on the forecast together. If it looks like rain, heavy wind, or anything that would make the photos less than amazing, we’ll chat a day or two beforehand and decide whether to reschedule. I always leave buffer days in my calendar, so we can find a new date that works for everyone. A little overcast is actually great for photos, so we’ll only reschedule if the weather truly won’t cooperate.

Will you help with our timeline? (first look, golden hour portraits, etc.)
Absolutely! Creating a smooth timeline is one of my favorite parts of wedding prep. Once we chat about whether you’re planning a first look, how long family photos usually take, and when the light will be best for those dreamy golden-hour portraits, I’ll help build a schedule that keeps everything running stress-free and on time. That way you can focus on enjoying your day while I make sure we don’t miss a single important moment.

Do you shoot with a second photographer or assistant?
All of my wedding packages include two photographers—me and a trusted second shooter—so we can capture different angles and moments happening at the same time (like your partner’s reaction during the first look while I’m focused on you). For smaller weddings or elopements, I’m happy to cover everything solo if that fits your plans. If you’re unsure which option is best, we can talk through your timeline and guest count to decide what works perfectly for your day.

How soon will we get our photos back?

Turnaround times depend a bit on the type of session:
• Weddings & Local Elopements: Galleries are delivered in 6–8 weeks, or 3–4 weeks if you add the Rush Edit option to your package.
• Couples & Grads: Typically ready in about 2–3 weeks.
• Out-of-State Weddings/Elopements: Because of extra travel and editing time, galleries are delivered in 6–8 weeks as well.
All wedding/elopement packages will receive a sneak gallery within 7 days of their wedding!!!!

What’s required to reserve our date?
To lock in your wedding, elopement, or session date, I require a signed contract and a retainer/deposit. Once those are submitted, your date is officially reserved, and I’ll be with you every step of the way—from planning your timeline to delivering your final gallery.

How early should I book my grad session?
I recommend booking your graduation session as early as possible, ideally a few months before your ceremony or any deadlines for announcements or yearbooks. This ensures you get your preferred date, time, and location, and gives us plenty of time to plan outfits, props, and any special ideas you have in mind. Typically, spring grads start booking at the beginning of their grad year, summer grads book during the spring, and fall grads typically start booking during the summer!

What should I bring? (cap, gown, cords, props)
Bring anything that makes your session feel personal and celebrates your achievement! This usually includes your cap and gown, cords, tassels, or honor stoles. Props like flowers, signs, confetti, or even your pet are also welcome. If you’re planning multiple outfits, don’t forget those too. I’ll guide you on what works best for photos so everything looks cohesive and effortless.

Can I include friends or family in a few shots?

Absolutely! You can include friends or family for $50 per person. This is a great option if you want a few group shots or some special memories with loved ones, while still keeping the focus on you. Just let me know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.

Can I include props like confetti, champagne, or my pet?
Absolutely! Props are a fun way to make your session feel personal and memorable. Confetti, champagne, signs, or even your furry friend are all welcome—just let me know ahead of time so we can plan the shots and make sure everything goes smoothly.
